CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK HOSPITALS
Through a variety of philanthropic and social activities, Phi Mu inspires its members to adopt important values such as leadership, empathy and ambition, and to always strive for excellence.
Phi Mu is the only sorority to be a corporate sponsor of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). Supporting 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals nationwide, Phi Mu has raised over $8.5 million since 1986, improving the quality of life for children everywhere.

Our signature fundraising event for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is Bonnamu. We raise funds and awareness for CMNH through a battle of the bands competition. In 2024, we raised over $25,000 for CMNH during Bonnamu! This year Phi Mu was the top fundraiser of UADM, a student organization that also supports CMNH, by raising a total of $31,526.

Throughout the year we participate in philanthropic events to support CMNH, other Greek organizations, and the Tuscaloosa community. Our girls serve the local food bank, YMCA, Best Buddies, Read Bama Read, Al's Pals and much more.
A LETTER FROM OUR PHILANTHROPY OFFICER
My name is Marienne Heikkinen, and I am deeply honored to serve as the Philanthropy Chair for Phi Mu Alpha Zeta. This role holds great personal meaning to me, as it allows me to plan and lead philanthropic initiatives that directly support children receiving care at Children’s of Alabama. Having the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of these children and their families is both humbling and fulfilling, and it is a responsibility I carry with genuine care and gratitude.
As I look forward to the year ahead, I am excited for the opportunity to thoughtfully plan and execute events that not only raise funds, but also strengthen our sense of community and purpose. More importantly, I look forward to creating moments that bring joy and hope to those we serve. Serving others has always been a core passion of mine, and this position allows me to act on that passion in a meaningful and lasting way. Through this role, I am able to make a positive impact while advocating for children in need and supporting the extraordinary care provided at Children’s of Alabama. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve in this capacity and to help make a difference through philanthropy.
